We know the facilities of the new terminal, which is an option for our customers to use. Having technical knowledge about the locations where we operate is very important for the safety of both our team and our customers.
The new terminal of Companhia Operadora Portuária do Itaqui (COPI) started commercial operations at Porto do Itaqui in March / 2021. The system allows an increase of up to three times in the productivity of the cradle 101, using mobile cranes, hopper, and conveyor belts that connect the warehouse to the cradle, with the capacity to move up to 3.5 million tons of fertilizers per year (about 1,250 tonnes/hour).
The project has static storage for 70 thousand tons of bulk cargo divided into 10 boxes. And for dispatch, a system with a capacity of up to 700 tons/hour makes it possible to send cargo in trucks directly to customers, even on rainy days. The infrastructure also allows operation in a bonded warehouse for import bulk, through the customs warehousing modality, in addition to the usual operations in the consumption model and direct unloading with advance dispatch.
The company's total investment in the Centro Norte fertilizer corridor is estimated at R $ 260 million, of which R $ 110 million has already been invested in the first stage of the project, and an additional R $ 150 million foreseen for the construction of the terminal's rail expedition in Porto do Porto. Itaqui and in the future multimodal terminal dedicated to transshipment and inland logistics from Palmeirante, the central region of Tocantins.
The second stage of the project foresees, as from the 1st semester of 2022, the integration of the fertilizer import logistics chain from the Port of Itaqui to the interior of Brazil by the railroad modal. A daily offer of up to 40 wagons (3.7 thousand tons) is foreseen for the transshipment terminal in Palmeirante.
In addition to consolidating the Port of Itaqui as a multimodal logistics solution in Arco Norte, these investments should generate about 200 direct and indirect jobs in São Luís and at least 150 jobs in the unit in Palmeirante.
